Here is the second reflection we invite you to join in the smartistsLAB.
In our last newsletter we considered the different options artists have today to build their digital presence, and we proposed you to make your own personal reflection in a private survey to better understand all YOUR possibilities: Social media (on Instagram, Tik Tok, Youtube and others) , Websites 2.0 (via Wordpress or other), marketplaces 2.0 (Spotify, Amazon, and others) , marketplaces 3.0 (Opensea, Gamma and others)…
We believe your professional digital presence should be of your choice, and it is for you to decide which of these tools you want to use and/ or how do you want to combine them.
Yet, to make sounded selection harmonizing with your personal values and criteria you need to understand what these different media offer and compare the implications.
The artists working with smartistsLAB have come up with 5 criteria they consider important for a professional artist:
Data Management
Art-files Digital Storage
Freedom of Speech/Censorship
Cost/Price for tech and software services
Effective Monetization solutions
But we want independent artists in our community to reflect on their own and bring their unique point of views. So, here is a private form we invite you to fill → 8 questions about these criteria we think artists need to consider when deciding about the media they want to use for their professional online presence.
“We are committed to develop a website model for artists on the web3 that can actually help them connect with their followers directly so they can exchange value x value on the web without intermediaries, from their own studio-store 3.0”- smartistsLAB
