What about Smartists in 2023?
Dear members of the Smartists community,
We can’t deny these are very uncertain times for web3 developers as well as for independent artists, and we need to re-evaluate our proposals in order to bring actual solutions.
We believe our mission and vision remains as valuable and necessary as ever, but we want to build something really useful. Independent creators need to find the tools to benefit from the Web3 (an actual Internet of Value) without being forced into relationships with third parties they don’t actually need. Moreover, we think 2023 is a year where Privacy, Intellectual Property and Freedom of Speech will prove to be fundamental on the web.
As the Internet is evolving fast and many new tools and business models are available for self-managed artists, we think that we need to listen to them and let them show us the way to the best solutions. Therefore, during this Q1 and Q2 we will temporarily suspend the development of the Smartists App on Stacks, step back and gain greater perspective on how the world of independent artists and their needs evolve. This is the reason we want to keep our community alive.
More than ever we want to keep in contact with you!
So , our different media of communication -our Discord Server, this newsletter and our Blog- will remain open and live, and I actually hope to bring thought-provoking information for us to discuss. Everything will be accessible in our community page: www.smartists.net
+ A Proposal
As an author myself, I renamed my blog “Hacia el Internet del valor - Towards the Internet of Value” , now “Una Autora en el Web3 - An Author on the web3”. There, I will be interviewing self-managed artists from our community who are exploring the web3, like I did last June with Grace Hye, Curator Collective and Flor Peña. Actually, I just published a new wonderful interview (no spoiler here) with one of our members, Kailani.
I would love to offer any community member reading these lines the chance to participate in my new series of interviews, and share their experiences while navigating the new Internet as independent artists. If you are interested, please dm me or answer this newsletter.
We are looking forward to keep building the best solutions for independent artists on the web3. Join the Smartists community and participate!
