Weekend update, a question and a video
Deep thinking and some readings…
This has been a tough week. Our Testing is stuck at this moment for technical reasons. Moreover we had conversations with potential advisors which led to deep reflection.
Despite having our mvp on testnet, we cannot move forward without the proper team, and building a team without the necessary funds is increasingly challenging. So far, since January 2020, I have invested all of my time (and also personal savings) in researching and building Smartists.
You can read our Story here, and here is our mission for the newcomers who might be wondering WHY we are building Smartists?
Bringing together Artists and Art-Users with privacy, security and benefits for all on the Internet of Value.
Smartists is building a decentralized application for the management of art digital files, while preserving fundamental rights like Privacy, Intellectual Property and Freedom of Speech.
Smartists aims to develop the tool on the web3 for professional artists of any field: writers, visual artists and musicians to make business with their Intellectual Property.
My initial interest in building Smartists was to address the main problems of Intellectual Property management on the web, and this has remained a guiding light for me. So, I am happy to bring here this week an article we just published in The Smartists blog: FAQ about NFTs and copyrights. And, today our Smartists Licenses are a core feature of our value proposition.
So, here is my question for this week…
A Question
Since we incorporated as Smartists PBC, I took charge of the Smartists Community and a Roadmap was set up. We are all trying to keep up with our milestones because the whole team is into the mission. Nevertheless, since we are so often asked about it, I need to ask you…
We are posing this question to those who, for whatever reason, have been following us and supporting us so far, and also to newcomers.
Your answer in this private form will remain anonymous (leaving an email is only optional). So feel free to tell us whatever you really think of Smartists.
This question is most important at this point, because we need to be able to prove we have potential users interested in our services. So we would like to get as many answers as possible, in order to move forward and for our project to be trustful.
A video
As promised, in an effort to continue our discovery and development, I bring to you a musician in the real world, a classical violist who is interested in what NFTs can provide in terms of opportunities for musicians like him. His name is Daniel Orsen, and I must say he has done some interesting research which he shares in the podcast/YouTube channel “Wagner’s Nightmare”. Actually, he has 5 short videos dedicated to NFTs:
After watching these 5 videos, I contacted Daniel Orsen, and I could know more about how he is looking to use NFTs to bring his next project, “Wagner’s Nightmare”, to the web3. I posted the links to his whole series above, because I think it makes sense to watch every video in its order to follow his train of thought, and also because I did not know which one would interest our Smartists followers more. But, I personally have a favorite as web3 builder, and here it is #4:
I find Daniel’s analysis interesting for any web3 builder to consider: users on the web3, the Internet of Value, need to find actual value in minting NFTs. It’s not about becoming another kind of artist just to benefit from a new fad in order to make a quick buck. Instead, it’s about using new technology to make your real business profitable and meaningful. Smartists goal is to develop powerful tools using the web3 technology and delivering meaningful services to actual creators and artists of any field!
This is the whole point for Smartists, a webApp originally designed by an author-illustrator working with musicians. Ours is a technological project where real users need to take the lead, in order to provide benefits for all.
Have a nice weekend and week ahead!
