Testing & Building our Community
Q1 is almost over, and we are just reaching some of our goals.
Just keeping up with all the news and many projects going on for artists on the web3 is very challenging, and we need it as we are focused in our solutions on Bitcoin with Stacks.
Therefore, I took a moment to look at our progress and I feel especially happy to share some of our achievements:
We have 8 pioneers who have been opening their private studios in our mvp (remember we are testing the essential functionalities). We are making some adjustments on the go as these first users point us at some issues.
We are happy to be hearing some suggestions from some members, still in private messages. We are piling them, and we hope to share them with the community to start discussing about future improvements.
We partnered with editor Mirlo Music to have a collection of NFTs that we are using as a welcoming reward for those opening their first private studios on Smartists.
We have updated our Community Landing page, smartists.net, where you can now access the MVP and also our Legal Documentation (Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Confidentiality Agreement and an overview of the licensing options in Smartists).
Therefore, this might be the right time to get involved and join our founding team in this journey. If you want to participate, join our Discord!
Coming up? Smartists Licenses for NFTs
In the next weeks we are bringing to life the smart contracts for minting and selling NFTs with licenses in the Smartists studios. We are pioneering this functionality, at least in our specific approach; and this comes with the challenge of explaining the fundamentals of what we are doing. There are actually some interesting projects considering Intellectual Property licensing as a business in some other blockchains. This is hot topic in the creative sectors, where copyrights holders are discussing about it. We are convinced that our solution is a very good one for creators who want to self-manage their Intellectual property in an easy and straightforward way on the web 3 with the security of Bitcoin.
All that being said, for Smartists this is just part of the services we want to provide, and which need to be defined by our users themselves, self-managed artists, copyrights holders and art-users.
For you to have a first overview of our Smartists Licenses you can read this introduction: Smartists Copyrights Licenses for NFTs.
And for more details you can check our dedicated Discord channels: ‘NFTs and copyrights’ and/or ‘smartists-experience’
But of course all this has been developed by our small founding team, including an author-illustrator with some experience signing publishing contracts (myself), a lawyer, and also 10 artists from different fields, backgrounds and locations who have provided feedback.
As we move on, we actually hope to get much more suggestions and involvement from those who are exploring and testing Smartists. Only with real use-cases we can actually progress. And this is why I am so happy to finish this update sharing that two of the studios on Smartists are already working in a collaboration… More information on this coming soon!
My best wishes!
